Jordan rift

The Right, even unto the Far Right, agrees with Israel inasmuch as it deserves to exist as a Jewish-themed state, and needn't be too choosey on its methods to that end.

The most high-minded sentiment, which may even be sincere, is that we side with civilization against the barbarians. The Arab League, drawing in as it does Arabic-speaking peoples far from Israel, has no geopolitical reason to get involved beyond ethnic identity - beyond at least a comparable "racism" as they impute to Israel and Jews. Christian Westerners associate clannishness with barbarism, with transHajnal thinking. They don't speak SAE.

Further Right, you get Trump. Many such Americans see themselves in Israel's role with respect to, say, the sporadic Honduran Caravans en route here. (Pace Chomsky and vridar.) We're all barbarians and it comes down to which barbarians we prefer. To disclose, that's about where I'm at.

Many of either sort of Rightist go on to accept Israel's hasbara as well - or at least agree to relay it. This is most common among the former sort. Robert Spencer's got a whole book on The Palestinian Delusion. On this much... ehhh.

When Palestinian apologists cry out "the Israelis do terrorisms too!!" it isn't all projection. Mossad has done a lot of assassinations over its time. Some justified... some unjustified, some simply mistaken. Ron Unz has done us the service of outlining a lot of it.

Feel free to take sides; but let's remember that there ARE sides, and choose accordingly.

I do note that as long as human tribes exist, there will be borders between them; and where borders aren't accepted, there will be war.
