Looking around at the aftermath of Nisibin's woes, and wondering when the Catholicate would return to al-Madain down from the aerie Guidi's Khuzestan expelled it - I came across this little letter. It's to a "brother" in Nisibin who has reported grumblings. Ishoʿyahb is not in the City but he's getting ready for the move. The City is probably al-Madain.
Rubens Duval didn't do well with the biblical footnotes this time, so I have corrected them.
One solution to the moving parts is that a conclave was called to replace the Catholicos, to which of course the Metropolitan of Hidyab was invited. It elected Ishoʿyahb as Third Of That Name. Now, Ishoʿyahb has the option of ruling from where the conclave was held, or of moving back to the historic capital (and not to, like, Constantinople or Alaha-save-us, Yathrib). My best guess as to where the conclave, is wherever Maremmeh was buried - which, I had to argue, is Kirkuk.
FIEY 4/16/23: C. XI is not discussed.
