Synod E

This blog posted that Conjunction post last year; but didn't grok the Metonic, so failed to observe the synod D last May. We're coming up to synod E, counting from when Mariner 10 launched November 1973 - and Venus Express launched (late) 2005. We may (or may not) launch something at Venus around 11 October. Let's plan ahead better - because, actually, this conjunction matters. At least, it will, on the Earth calendar anyway.

After Earth launches its October transfer Venusward, our conjunction is 2022, 9 January 1:00; 2026 superior 6 Jan 16:00, then 2030 6 Jan 13:00. The Fall Back metonic spans 2046 1 Jan 14:00, superior 2049 29 Dec 21:00, then 2053 30 Dec 2:00. Synod E Trash Day, when failed Hohmann comes back here (headed to SVL3), will be about 9 October 2025.

Synod B, Venerae 5-6 launched 12ish January 1969, is next in line for its conjunction to drop toward January. These cycle every 245 years or so.
