Justinian's fleabite again

Last December I pointed to a Lee Mordechai study, that Justinian's fleabite might not have been that bad. Joined by Lauren White, the two now say that the best models of how Yersinia spreads cannot fit the ancient reports.

One issue here: suppose the deaths weren't all from the plague directly. If the food supply and economy were disrupted, famine could kill more.
